Our Story

Why I built this.

I'm going through a divorce. Before that, relationship after relationship — different women, different circumstances, same ending. Disaster, more or less, every time.

For a long time I told myself it was bad luck, or bad timing, or the wrong person, again. But at some point you have to stop and actually look at the pattern instead of the excuses. And when I did, the answer was uncomfortable: I was the common denominator. Almost every time — all but one — looking back, I wasn't right for them, and they weren't right for me. Not eventually. Not after things went bad. From the start.

We just didn't know it yet. Or we did, somewhere, and ignored it.

That's the thing nobody wants to say out loud: most relationships aren't destroyed by some dramatic betrayal. They're just two people who were never actually aligned, doing their best to make it work anyway — until they can't anymore.

I look around and I see it everywhere. People who stayed married. People who are technically "together." Going along to get along. Not unhappy enough to leave, not honest enough to say what they actually want. Just coasting. And I don't think that's what anyone signs up for when they start looking for someone.

So I started asking a different question. What if you could take that whole gamble out of the equation? What if, before two people ever meet, you already knew they wanted the same things — the same values, the same version of a life together — instead of finding out three years in?

That's Verity. Not a place to build a profile and hope you photograph well. A place to actually say who you are — plainly, honestly, without performing for anyone — and be matched with someone who said the same kind of thing back.

This is my first project like this. I've built businesses before — physical ones, hands-on ones. This is the first time I've built something meant to live entirely online, to reach people I'll never personally meet. But the idea didn't come from a market gap or a spreadsheet. It came from living the exact problem Verity is trying to solve, more than once, and finally being honest enough with myself to name what was actually going wrong.

Verity exists because I wish something like it had existed for me.
